Academics

Immaculate Conception Regional School works in concert with Pope John High School advisors to assure a seamless curriculum jump from elementary to high school. In addition, 50% of this year’s eighth grade class was accepted and is enrolled in Honors courses at Pope John, providing them with advance placement opportunities as they begin high school.

Immaculate Conception Students have historically been successful at the various high schools in the area; Wailkill, High Point, Vernon, and Pope John. In addition, Immaculate Conception Students have enjoyed a 100% acceptance rate at Pope John High School since inception.

Arts

Students are provided with a year long fine arts and music curriculum.

Our fine arts curriculum provides exposure to a variety of mediums during the student’s tenure at Immaculate Conception. Students learn to use graphite pencil, charcoal, water color, colored pencil, oil pastel, tempera and acrylic paints to name a few. Techniques in their application as well as a development of skill and craftsmanship are stressed.

General music classes at ICRS emphasize hands-on music making and the development of a child’s natural voice. Preschool and primary students sing, move, and play a variety of percussion instruments as they explore rhythm and melody. They progress through their tenure at ICRS to rhythmic notation, melodic notation, and development of their music-reading competence. Singing continues its importance, classroom instruments are utilized, and we study famous composers and their music. In addition, the use of the soprano recorder, keyboards and percussion instruments reinforces the students’ music reading skills. In the students’ later years, music theory, ensemble performance, a study of the use of music in media, and the study of Music Theater ensue.

Immaculate Conception Regional School offers a Latin curriculum to grades sixth through eighth and a Spanish curriculum to grades two through fifth. In addition, Spanish is currently infused in the Pre-K, Kindergarten, and first grade curriculums.
